Cole J. DeMello (2024)
Cole J. DeMello is a trans man studying Biotechnology and Genetics at the University of New Haven.
Passionate about the intersection of science and creativity, he’s dedicated to making advancements in biotech while expressing his artistic side through drawing, sculpting, and painting.
Cole is also committed to supporting the LGBTQ+ community and inspiring others to pursue their passions.

Jake Benoit (2023)
Jake Benoit, a senior at Harvard studying Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology, is the recipient of our 2023 scholarship.
He works in Prof. Richard Lee's lab on a project studying the protein ARRDC4 and its role in blood sugar regulation, with potential implications for diabetes treatment.
As Jake prepares to apply to medical school, he aims to pioneer drug research and advocate for LGBTQ+ healthcare.

Sage Widder (2022)
Sage, a Newton South High School graduate, will attend Wellesley College to major in biochemistry with an Art/Art History minor.
She has strong leadership in science and LGBTQ+ advocacy, co-captaining her high school’s varsity science team and co-presiding over the Gay Student Alliance.
Sage also explores the intersection of art and science in education.
