Branches
OUTbio, Inc. began operations as the LGBTQ+ Drug Development Meet-Up Group in Boston in April 2015. In 2019, we were officially incorporated as OUTbio, Inc., a 501(c)3 charitable organization with a mission to empower the LGBTQ community and its allies in the life sciences and affiliated industries.
Our strong growth in the Boston area has spread to other biotech hubs, reflecting the value in LGBTQ+ professional community-building, educational and support activities. In addition to the original OUTbio, Inc., based in Boston, Massachusetts, affiliated OUTbio organizations who share OUTbio, Inc.’s mission have been created in several other locations. A note on structure: Given the limited resources available to the original OUTbio, Inc. a decision was made early on to allow OUTbio groups outside of OUTbio, Inc. to operate independently. That is, branches such as the above can all incorporate and operate independently as their own entity, with a license to the OUTbio name and opportunities to advance our global community through knowledge and network sharing. All these organizations are referred to as “branches” of OUTbio. These branches will be aligned with our mission and vision but will remain independent and maintain their own Steering Committees and/or Boards of Directors.
