About the Event

We are very excited to announce we will host a year-end virtual event – A Conversation with ALOK – in collaboration with Alnylam on December 9th from 12 – 1 pm ET.

Alok V. Menon (they/them) is a gender non-conforming writer and performance artist who was recently featured in HuffPo’s “Culture Shifters ‘21” List. Their distinctive style and poetic challenge to the gender binary has been internationally renowned.

As a mixed-media artist Alok uses poetry, prose, comedy, performance, design and portraiture to explore themes of eugenics, trauma, belonging and the human condition. They are the author of “Femme in Public” (2017) and “Beyond the Gender Binary” (2020). In 2019, they were honored as one of NBC’s “Pride 50” and Out Magazine’s “OUT 100”. They are currently an artist in residence at the Annette von Droste zu Hülshoff-Stiftung Center for Literature.

We are looking forward to learning from them and hope to see you there! In the first half of the hour, we will hear from Alok about their personal journey and experiences, and get tips of what corporations can do to support the trans and non-binary community. To get a taste of what’s in store, we highly recommend listening to their recent podcast episode, ALOK: The Urgent Need for Compassion on The Man Enough.

In the second half of the hour, Alnylam's own Al Boyle, Chief Technical Operations and Quality Officer & DE&I Executive Sponsor, will lead a “fire-side” chat with Alok. We encourage you to come with questions for Alok to help make this session informative and interactive.
