Alnylam & ALOK

Updated: Dec 14, 2021

On Dec 9, Alnylam hosted a virtual session with writer and performer Alok Vaid-Menon, also known as simply ALOK. The session ranged widely through topics of gender, censorship, and different ways of living, among others. Alok's eloquence and joyful approach to life and living were very moving and their assertions thought-provoking.

The discussion began with censorship, and how historically trans and gender-nonconforming people have been censored out of existence by the systems and people in power. The idea that this censorship is about suppressing freedom of expression and joy, and that people living their truest selves are trying to guide to "a lush, resplendent society" were among the many moving ideas shared. A great Q&A about understanding different ways of being and the beauty of the scientific method capped off the talk.

Our thanks to Alnylam for hosting an excellent event, and for ALOK for participating.
